In 1997, the ICPE Mission started in the Philippines upon the invitation of the late Jaime Cardinal Sin, the Archbishop of Manila. Today, in solidarity with the church in the Philippines and the preferential option for the poor, the vision is “Empowering the poor through God's compassionate love in the heart of Asia.” This vision is carried out through a variety of ministries, retreats and outreaches in different provinces of the Philippines.

In Rizal Province...

In Montalban, Rizal Province, many families struggle to earn and live on US$ 5 daily. Social problems of gambling, alcoholism, abuse and drug addictions persist due to unemployment.  The ICPE mission is reaching out to these families with the goal of empowering them to overcome their poverty and its consequences.  This is done through ministries to adults and children:

The Balikatan (shoulder to shoulder in Filipino) Ministry helps adults to grow in their Christian faith and empowers them to take responsibility for their lives and families. It seeks to equip them with livelihood skills to provide regular income for their children.

Children Ministry is seeking to plant seeds of faith and hope in young lives. Each week about 120 children attend the sessions of prayer, fun and faith-based activities. Medical missions, birthday and Christmas celebrations ensure healthy and joyful children.

Children’s Educational Sponsorship developed as a result of our work in Balikatan and Children Ministry. There are many children who were not able to have an education because their parents were not able to earn enough income to send them to school. This ministry aims to empower the children and youth through raising and providing funds from sponsors to enable them to attend schools and support their educational needs.

In Benguet Province...

In the university town and capital of Benquet Province, Baguio, the ICPE Mission is reaching out to university students through its Baguio Ministry. The mission and vision of this ministry is to evangelise students and form a healing community of youths who will be radical for the Lord. Through this ministry, the ICPE Mission has birthed a community of students called ‘Lighthouse Community’. Together with Lighthouse Community ICPE reaches out to other university students through outreaches, camps, concerts, weekly formations and sharing.

In Metro Manila – Pasig...

ICPE also serves in the Diocese of Pasig in the Holy Family Parish where it reaches out to youth through Youth Ministry.  The vision is disciple and mentor the youth of today to be leaders of tomorrow, and men and women of faith and integrity.
Apart from these weekly ministries ICPE Mission runs variety of retreats for children, youth and adults both in the Mission Centre in Manila and outside of Manila according to the invitations from different parishes or communities.

Formation & Mission Programmes

The Emmaus Experience
This is a two week course that helps participants to deepen their relationship with God, be renewed or discover their call for evangelization and equips them with practical tools for this.  This course includes the practical hands-on experience of outreaches in different mission settings.

Mission Exposure 101
This is a shorter 1 week programme that gives a very basic introduction to mission with the opportunity to experience and be involved in ongoing mission work.

Staff Formation
This is for all young people who are drawn to the missionary vocation and who desire to be long-term ICPE missionaries. Staff Formation focuses on every aspect of a person’s life through prayer, community living, mission service and studies - including different modules of spirituality, character formation, community and mission, theology and personal development.
